Gallery House's spring 2019 exhibit is themed "It's Not Me, It's My Image"
In this digital era, nearly every facet of our lives interacts with distortion in some sense. From our artistic expectations to personal self-image, the lines of authenticity become blurred as we grow increasingly comfortable with the many faces we upload.
“Its Not Me, It’s My Image,” an exhibition curated by Gallery House Interns of Spring 2019, includes works that offer an experiential exploration of the implications of rapidly developing technology, social media, and the curation of multiple identities. The exhibition embraces a wide variety of media, including installations and video and film as well as more traditional media of painting and photography. Original works will be sold and auctioned to benefit the Children’s Arts Guild, a local beneficiary organization committed to providing underprivileged children with arts education.
The opening reception, Thursday, May 2, 2019, 7 - 10 PM, will feature live performances from Wrecked (https://wreckedsketches.bandcamp.com/), Prophet (https://soundcloud.com/thestrangedavinci/tracks), and Segami (@_segami).” The closing reception is Thursday, May 9, 2019, 7- 10 PM. Gallery House is a program of DGT Foundation, Inc., the tax-exempt arm of DGT Alumni Association, made up of Pratt Institute Alumni who were once part of a local fraternity dating back to 1898. As a legacy from the past, DGT Alumni Association members, and income from the property, support an organization that has now been re-purposed as Gallery House to continue to enrich student life and professional preparation in an Innovative way that supports the fostering of leadership and professional development among students in the creative fields of study provided by Pratt.
